DOHA, Feb 2 – In a significant diplomatic push, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has called on both Israel and Hamas to engage in immediate discussions to implement the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Speaking at a press conference alongside Turkey’s Foreign Minister in Doha, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the urgency of initiating negotiations without delay.
“We demand that both sides begin discussions immediately as required by the agreement,” he stated, underlining that there is still no definite plan on when or where the talks will take place.
The Ceasefire Agreement and Its Stages
The current truce between Israel and Hamas was established through a carefully structured three-phase agreement. The first phase, currently in effect, has seen a temporary halt in hostilities, along with the exchange of prisoners.
